AI App Builders

LovableFree tier and limits

Describe an app in chat and Lovable builds it. The free plan has daily credits and needs no card.

Daily credits expire at the end of each day, so unused ones do not roll over. Lovable is an AI app builder where you describe a website or web app in chat and it writes the code, connects a backend and publishes it. The Free plan costs $0 and the pricing page says no credit card is needed. It gives a daily grant of 5 build credits (up to 30 a month), 20 Cloud credits a month, unlimited collaborators, 5 lovable.app domains and invite-only publishing. Pro is $25 a month for 100 credits on top of the daily grant, with custom domains and badge removal. G2 shows more than 400 reviews, with praise for ease of use and fast prototypes and one complaint repeated most: credit use that is hard to predict. Trustpilot reviewers also report repeated errors and credits running out before a project is finished.

πŸ‘ Good boy

  • +The Free plan needs no credit card, per the pricing page, so you can build a first app before paying anything.
  • +G2 reviewers rate ease of use and speed highest. One non-technical founder wrote that Lovable let them turn 20 years of HR expertise into a working survey product.
  • +A G2 reviewer said their first app took 3 days to build and a near-identical second one took 1 day.
  • +Plan Mode costs a flat 1 credit per message per the pricing page, so you can discuss a change before the agent edits any code.
  • +The pricing FAQ lists example costs, from 0.5 credits to change a button colour to 1.7 for a landing page with generated images, and each message shows its cost in the history.
  • +You own the code and data you build, per the pricing FAQ, and a G2 reviewer said connecting it to VS Code is easy.
  • +A Trustpilot reviewer said it built their ecommerce store in an hour after a developer had quoted $600 and two weeks.

πŸ‘Ž Watch out

  • βˆ’Credit use is the top complaint. G2 shows 40 mentions of unclear credit usage, and a reviewer wrote that credits can be wasted while the AI fixes its own errors.
  • βˆ’The free grant is small. A Trustpilot reviewer wrote that 5 daily credits used to go a long way and now run out before anything is done.
  • βˆ’A G2 reviewer building a complex product said small requests can cause regressions in unrelated areas, so they now define scope explicitly and ask for regression checks.
  • βˆ’A r/lovable poster described burning 30 credits looping on one bug (a search excerpt, not the full thread).
  • βˆ’A G2 reviewer said generated code needs more review and cleanup as a project grows, and wanted more control over code structure and the backend.
  • βˆ’Free publishing is invite-only. Custom domains and badge removal start at Pro, $25 a month.

The catch

The free grant is a daily allowance, not a monthly pool. Five build credits a day, capped at 30 a month, expire at the end of each day. A message costs anywhere from 0.5 credits for a colour change to 1.7 for a landing page with images, so the free grant covers a handful of edits a day. Free apps can only be published to people you invite. If you want a public site on your own domain you need Pro at $25 a month. Credits are the recurring complaint across G2, Trustpilot and Reddit. Reviewers describe spending credits while the AI fixes its own mistakes, and a small request that breaks an unrelated part of the app. Use Plan Mode, which costs 1 credit per message, to settle the change before the agent writes code. The pricing page does not say whether commercial use is limited on Free, so we left that as unknown.
