Now listed as Sinch Mailjet, with 1,000 contacts on the free plan. Mailjet, now listed as Sinch Mailjet, sends transactional and marketing email through an API, an SMTP relay and an email editor. The Free plan allows 6,000 emails a month with a 200 per day cap, 1,000 contacts, APIs, SMTP relay, webhooks, the email editor and basic statistics, and the FAQ says no credit card is required to sign up. Starter is $9 a month for 8,000 emails with no daily limit, Essential is $19 for 15,000, and Premium is $29 for 15,000 with automations, landing pages and priority support. Prices exclude VAT, and credits do not roll over. Trustpilot shows 4.0 from 3,987 reviews, but support is where opinions split: a Capterra reviewer describes a suspended account, Trustpilot reviewers call support poor, and others thank named support staff.

πŸ‘ Good boy

  • +The Free plan includes API, SMTP relay and webhooks, which many email tools reserve for paid plans, at 6,000 emails a month with a 200 a day cap.
  • +The FAQ says no credit card is required to sign up for the Free plan.
  • +Starter at $9 a month removes the daily cap and raises the limit to 8,000 emails and 2,000 contacts.
  • +Mailjet bills overage per extra 1,000 emails instead of blocking sending, per the pricing FAQ.
  • +A Capterra reviewer who gave Mailjet 1.0 overall still said the API has good documentation, and another reviewer said Mailjet works very well as an SMTP service.
  • +G2's comparison page with Twilio SendGrid says Mailjet is considered the stronger value on pricing, with reviewers citing affordability.
  • +Trustpilot reviewers have named support staff who helped with setup, and Capterra shows 92 percent positive reviews out of 24 on its pros and cons box.

πŸ‘Ž Watch out

  • βˆ’A Capterra reviewer (October 16, 2024, rating 1.0) said Mailjet suspended their SaaS account without notice over suspected spam and that they were still waiting for help after 7 days.
  • βˆ’The same reviewer said Mailjet's own emails, such as password resets and auth codes, are delayed or not always received. Treat that as one report.
  • βˆ’A Trustpilot reviewer wrote that support is awful, and another said terrible support led them to build their own OTP delivery monitor. A Reddit commenter in r/SaaS warned people to stay away from Mailjet.
  • βˆ’Other Trustpilot and Capterra reviewers praise named support staff, so experiences differ. Trustpilot shows a 4.0 average from 3,987 reviews.
  • βˆ’The Free plan caps sending at 200 a day, so a burst of signups can hit the limit before 6,000 a month does.
  • βˆ’Prices exclude VAT and are subject to French VAT unless you provide an intra-Community VAT number. Unused credits expire each billing cycle.
  • βˆ’The comparison table lists online customer support under First Month Only on one plan, and the text we read does not make the column clear. Confirm what Free includes before you rely on support.

The catch

The Free plan is generous on paper: 6,000 emails a month with API, SMTP and webhooks. The 200 per day cap is the practical limit, and it can bite on a launch day. Support is the review story. A Capterra reviewer describes a suspended SaaS account and a 7 day wait for help, Trustpilot reviewers call support awful, and other reviewers thank named support staff. If a suspension would hurt you, test with real traffic before you move production mail. Prices exclude VAT, and French VAT applies unless you provide an intra-Community VAT number. Unused email credits expire at the end of each billing cycle.
