TursoFree tier and limits

SQLite-compatible cloud databases. The Free plan lists 100 databases, 5 GB and 500 million rows read.

Databases are cheap here: the free plan lists 100 of them. Turso is a SQLite-compatible database platform. The Free plan costs $0 and lists 100 databases, 5 GB of storage, 500 million rows read and 10 million rows written, with community support; the table labels were not captured, so I read the read and write figures as monthly. Developer is $4.99 a month with unlimited databases, 9 GB, 2.5 billion rows read and 25 million rows written, with overage at $1 per billion reads and $1 per million writes. Scaler is $24.92 a month and Pro is $416.58 a month, both with unlimited databases. A January 2025 r/nextjs post said edge replication, schema databases and database attach would leave the free tier, so features have moved between plans. Forum feedback is mostly first impressions, and I found no G2 or Trustpilot listing.

πŸ‘ Good boy

  • +The Free plan allows 100 databases, which suits one-database-per-tenant or per-user designs.
  • +Developer is $4.99 a month for unlimited databases, 9 GB of storage and 2.5 billion rows read, a very low first paid step.
  • +Overage is metered in plain units: $1 per billion rows read and $1 per million rows written on Developer, falling to $0.80 on Scaler and $0.75 on Pro.
  • +A poster on r/golang writing first impressions said they love that the free tier is $0.
  • +The platform is SQLite-compatible, so SQLite is the model to learn, and an r/Supabase thread compares it directly with Supabase.
  • +Retention grows with the plan: 3 days on Developer, 14 days on Scaler and 30 days on Pro, per the pricing page.

πŸ‘Ž Watch out

  • βˆ’Plans change. A January 2025 post on r/nextjs said edge replication, schema databases and database attach would be unavailable on the free tier within two weeks.
  • βˆ’Free reads and writes are capped (500 million reads, 10 million writes). A write-heavy app will run out of the 10 million writes sooner than the 5 GB of storage.
  • βˆ’I found no G2 or Trustpilot listing, and forum threads are mostly first impressions and ecosystem talk, so there is little independent evidence about uptime or support.
  • βˆ’Pro is $416.58 a month, so the step from Scaler at $24.92 to Pro is large.
  • βˆ’The pricing table text I captured does not label every row, so retention and per-plan limits beyond the core numbers are unconfirmed.
  • βˆ’No uptime or support track record shows up in the sources I found, so treat reliability as untested until you try it.

The catch

The core free limits are clear: 100 databases, 5 GB, 500 million rows read and 10 million rows written. I read the read and write numbers as monthly, but the table labels did not come through, so check the period on the pricing page. Plans move. A January 2025 r/nextjs post said edge replication, schema databases and database attach were leaving the free tier, so confirm that the feature you need is still included. Independent evidence is thin. I found no G2 or Trustpilot listing and mostly first-impression forum posts. Card requirement and commercial terms for Free are unknown.
