CalendarificFree tier and limits

Holiday and event data API. The free plan allows 500 calls a month and requires attribution.

Sniffed 22d agoNo card needed#holidays#calendar#public-holidays#api#scheduling

Public holiday data for your calendar or scheduling app, free with a credit line. Calendarific is a holiday and events API for adding public holiday data to calendars, scheduling and e-commerce tools. The pricing page lists a Free plan with 500 calls a month, required attribution, community support, a single language, limited historical and upcoming data, and a dataset updated quarterly. A paid plan at $12 a month raises the limit to 10,000 calls, removes the attribution requirement and adds email support, national languages, and complete historical and upcoming data. Higher tiers list 50,000 calls with weekly updates and 50,000,000 calls with daily updates, but I did not capture their prices. G2 has a single 2019 review praising support, Trustpilot has one review, and older Reddit comments quote a 1,000-call free tier that no longer matches the page.

πŸ‘ Good boy

  • +The $12 a month plan raises the limit to 10,000 calls, removes the attribution requirement and adds complete historical and upcoming holiday data, which is an inexpensive step up for a small app.
  • +The single G2 review, from 2019, rated it 5 out of 5 and highlighted prompt and effective customer support.
  • +The pricing page shows clear ladders of volume, support level and update frequency, from quarterly updates on the lower plans to daily on the top plan.
  • +A Reddit commenter grouped it with Abstract API as one of the paid holiday APIs that offer a free tier, which shows it is a known option when developers look for holiday data.
  • +The free plan is enough to try the API shape with real calls before deciding.

πŸ‘Ž Watch out

  • βˆ’The free plan requires attribution and has limited historical and upcoming data and a single language, so it works for a prototype more than a product.
  • βˆ’Older Reddit comments describe 1,000 free calls a month, while the pricing page now lists 500. Trust the pricing page, not old threads.
  • βˆ’A r/webdev thread comparing it with HolidayAPI noted that the data in both is not fully accurate (the excerpt is cut off), so check the countries you need against an official calendar.
  • βˆ’Independent evidence is very thin. G2 has one review from 2019 and Trustpilot has one review, and I found no recent Reddit discussion of experience.
  • βˆ’I did not capture prices for the 50,000-call and 50,000,000-call tiers, so large-volume costs are unconfirmed.
  • βˆ’Datasets on the lower plans are updated quarterly, so last-minute holiday changes may not appear quickly.

The catch

The free plan is a prototype tier. It allows 500 calls a month, requires attribution, supports a single language and shows limited historical and upcoming data from a dataset updated quarterly. Older Reddit comments cite 1,000 free calls, which the current pricing page does not. The jump to production is small in price. At $12 a month you get 10,000 calls without attribution and with complete historical and upcoming data. I did not capture prices for the 50,000-call and 50,000,000-call tiers. The pricing page does not state commercial-use terms for the free plan or a card requirement, so both are unknown. Reviews are sparse: one 2019 G2 review praising support, one Trustpilot review, and a Reddit comparison thread that says holiday data from this and one other provider is not fully accurate.
