DNS & CDN
Free DNS, CDN, SSL and DDoS protection for any site. Paid plans start at $20 a month.
Put it in front of your domain on day one and leave it alone until you outgrow it. Cloudflare puts DNS, a CDN, a Universal SSL certificate, DDoS protection and a web application firewall in front of a website. The pricing page lists these on the Free plan at $0, with community forum and Discord support. Pro shows at $20 a month ($240 for a year) with chat and ticket support, Business at $200 a month ($2,400 for a year) with phone support, and Contract is custom. A r/CloudFlare reply says the free plan restricts some advanced features but is fine for basic DNS use. Another poster says you can serve unlimited static and cached assets on the free CDN, with a condition that my excerpt cut off. A third r/CloudFlare user called Cloudflare DNS weak and its content delivery very limited, while still saying it is good for saving costs. It fits developers who want free DNS and caching and can live with community support.

The Free plan has no end date and costs $0. The pricing extract I read lists the same feature names (DNS, CDN, Universal SSL, DDoS protection, WAF, SSO) under every plan, so it does not show how deep each feature goes on Free. A r/CloudFlare reply says advanced features are restricted on the free plan. Check the specific firewall rule counts, page rules and analytics you need before you move a production site. Support is the clearest gap. Free gets community forums and Discord. Chat and ticket support starts at Pro, and phone support at Business. I did not find a statement on commercial use or a card requirement in the pages I read, so both are marked unknown. I found no G2 or Capterra text for Cloudflare in my search, so the user opinions here come from Reddit.
