A free zone that is plenty for a side project's domain. ClouDNS hosts DNS zones on its own network, which its Trustpilot profile describes as Anycast with 50+ data centers on six continents. The free plan gives you 1 DNS zone, 50 records, 500,000 queries a month, 4 unicast DNS servers, 1 mail forward and 1 dynamic DNS hostname, with live chat support. Premium DNS is $2.95 a month with up to 500 million queries, anycast servers, DNS failover and DNSSEC. DDoS Protected DNS is $5.95 a month with up to 1 billion queries, and GeoDNS is $9.95 a month. Trustpilot lists 167 reviews with an Excellent label, and G2 reviewers name customer support and ease of use as the top positives. A r/sysadmin reply calls it generally reliable for DNS but says support and UX for domain registration are less polished than at bigger registrars. It suits a small site that needs a basic free zone or a second DNS provider.

👍 Good boy
+The pricing page lists a Free DNS plan as free forever, with 1 zone, 50 records and 500,000 queries a month.
+Trustpilot shows 167 reviews and an Excellent label, and one reviewer praised clear, helpful and skilled support and a free DNS control panel.

+A r/sysadmin reply calls ClouDNS generally reliable for DNS.

👎 Watch out
−Free is capped at 1 zone and 50 records, which is tight once you run more than one small site.
−Free runs on 4 unicast servers. Anycast servers appear on the paid plans.
−DNS failover and DNSSEC appear in the paid plan lists and are missing from the free plan list.
−A r/sysadmin reply says support and UX for domain registration are not as polished as bigger registrars.
−The free query allowance is 500K a month. Premium is listed at up to 500 million.
The catch
The free plan is small: 1 zone, 50 records and 500,000 queries a month, served from 4 unicast DNS servers. If you need failover, DNSSEC or anycast servers, the plan lists put them on Premium DNS at $2.95 a month.
The paid plan listings show uptime SLA figures of 1,000% and 10,000%. Those cannot be literal percentages, so read the actual SLA terms before you rely on them.
When I fetched the pricing URL the response pointed at the home page, but the plan details were on it. I did not find a commercial-use statement or a card requirement, so both are marked unknown.
