PinggyFree tier and limits

Localhost tunnels with no download. Free 60-minute tunnels, Pro is $3 a month.

Share a local server with nothing to install, on a 60-minute timer. Pinggy gives local servers a public URL, and its own comparison says HTTP, TCP and TLS tunnels need no download. Pinggy's blog says the free tier needs no sign-up and tunnels last 60 minutes, and that Pro costs $3 a month or $2.50 a month billed yearly, with unlimited bandwidth, UDP tunnels, persistent subdomains and ports, custom domains and apex domains. Its /pricing page returned a 404 when I fetched it, so these prices come from the company's own blog, which may favor Pinggy. A r/golang commenter called it trusted and a great ngrok alternative at about $2 a month, which does not match the $3 figure. The founder's own posts on Hacker News and r/selfhosted are the other public mentions I found. It suits short demos and webhook tests where an install step gets in the way.

πŸ‘ Good boy

  • +Pinggy's own comparison says HTTP, TCP and TLS tunnels need no install, with a CLI only for UDP.
  • +Pinggy's blog says the free tier needs no sign-up.
  • +Pro is listed at $3 a month, or $2.50 a month billed yearly, in Pinggy's blog.
  • +Pinggy's blog says Pro has unlimited bandwidth with no monthly transfer cap or per-GB overage. That is a vendor claim.
  • +Pinggy's blog lists UDP tunnels and apex domains on Pro, which its comparison table says ngrok lacks.
  • +A r/golang commenter called Pinggy trusted and a great alternative to ngrok, and another said Pinggy is solid.

πŸ‘Ž Watch out

  • βˆ’Free tunnels time out after 60 minutes, per Pinggy's homepage.
  • βˆ’The homepage FAQ lists 'The URL changes after I restart the tunnel' as a question users ask on the free plan.
  • βˆ’Persistent subdomains and ports and custom domains need the Pro plan, according to Pinggy's blog.
  • βˆ’Pinggy's pricing page returned a 404 when I fetched it, and its prices come from its own blog, so verify before you buy.
  • βˆ’A r/golang commenter said Pinggy is solid but pointed to the open source tool Wormhole for people who want to own the relay.
  • βˆ’Public review coverage is thin. I found no G2, Capterra or Trustpilot text, only vendor posts and Reddit.

The catch

The free tier is built for quick use. Pinggy's blog says it needs no sign-up, tunnels last 60 minutes and the address changes when you reconnect. Persistent subdomains and ports and custom domains need Pro. I could not read Pinggy's pricing page. The /pricing URL returned a 404 title, and the plan table my scraper pulled from it conflicted with Pinggy's own blog, so I discarded the table. Prices here come from Pinggy's blog posts, which describe Pro at $3 a month or $2.50 a month billed yearly. A r/golang commenter said about $2 a month. Confirm on the live site. Most of the public text about Pinggy comes from Pinggy itself. Its blog compares itself with ngrok and Cloudflare, so treat the comparison tables as marketing. The independent opinions I found are short Reddit comments.
