Type a slash, get a question. Tally branding stays on the free plan. Tally is a form builder that works like a document: you type on a blank page, use slash commands and add blocks. The Free plan lists unlimited forms and unlimited submissions, plus payments, signatures, file uploads, conditional logic, calculations, answer piping, 45+ languages, and Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier, Make and webhook integrations. Pro costs $24 a month ($240 billed annually) and adds removal of Tally branding, custom domains, unlimited team members, custom CSS, partial submissions and form analytics. G2 has 162 reviews, and ease of use is the most mentioned positive with 33 mentions. The complaints are limited design customisation, basic analytics and text formatting quirks, and one Trustpilot reviewer could not build quiz funnels. It suits developers and small teams who want forms without response caps.

πŸ‘ Good boy

  • +The Free plan lists unlimited forms and unlimited submissions, with payments, signatures and file uploads included.
  • +Conditional logic, calculations, answer piping and password protection are on the Free plan.
  • +Free includes Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier and Make integrations, plus webhooks.
  • +G2 reviewers mention ease of use 33 times, the most of any theme, and a Trustpilot reviewer called it as easy as Typeform at a fraction of the price.
  • +A G2 reviewer said you start typing on a blank page, and they can deploy a new form in a matter of minutes.
  • +A G2 reviewer said Tally handled advanced routing and logic based on incoming URL parameters flawlessly.
  • +A r/SaaS commenter said Tally gives basically everything for free compared with other form builders and does not feel as dated as Google Forms.
  • +G2 reviewers mention responsive support 11 times, and a Trustpilot reviewer called support quick and friendly.

πŸ‘Ž Watch out

  • βˆ’A G2 reviewer said design customisation is limited because you are stuck with a Notion-style layout, and called the analytics basic.
  • βˆ’A G2 reviewer disliked text formatting: pasted text gains extra line spacing, there is no simple list icon, and splitting long text with Enter can lag.
  • βˆ’A G2 reviewer said there is no way to import structured data like JSON and turn it into a working form.
  • βˆ’A Trustpilot reviewer said the product could not build quiz funnels, which they only found out after building a funnel for many hours.
  • βˆ’A Trustpilot reviewer called the file upload limit on the free plan rather small and the way logic works a little annoying.
  • βˆ’G2 users report clunky field transitions, lost integrations when duplicating a form, and a matrix question that did not fit a mobile screen.
  • βˆ’Removing Tally branding, custom domains, custom CSS and form analytics need Pro at $24 a month.

The catch

The Free plan has no cap on forms or submissions, which is rare for a form builder. What you give up is listed under Pro at $24 a month ($240 a year): removing Tally branding, custom domains, custom CSS, partial submissions, form visit and drop-off analytics, and unlimited uploads. Business at $74 a month ($888 a year) adds data retention control, email verification and 90 days of version history. A Trustpilot reviewer described the free file upload limit as small. The pricing page lists file uploads on Free but gives no size figure in the version I read, so check the limit before you build a form around large files. Several of the G2 reviews I read were collected through invitations or incentives, which G2 labels on each review. The criticisms are consistent across G2 and Trustpilot: limited layout control, basic analytics and rough text formatting.
